Using such adhesive tape, not everyone knows what and how it is made of.
For the production of ordinary stationery and packagingadhesive tape polypropylene is used as the base. This is an environmentally friendly durable and lightweight material that does not allow water and odors to pass through, resistant to low and high temperatures, and numerous kinks. The material is suitable for printing. For other types of adhesive tape (painting, double-sided, reinforced, aluminum and metallized), the basis is paper, foil and PVC film. The adhesive coating is made of acrylic or rubber adhesive.
The production process of adhesive tape based on polypropylene
Production consists of several successive stages:
- processing base — the film enters the conveyor and is treated with a solvent so that it does not stick together ahead of time;
- applying hot glue to one side of the film;
- drying the glue — the glue hardens on the cooling roller;
- on the rewinder, the tape is wound on a spool 1.5 meters long;
- then the material falls on the blades, which cut it into strips of the required width, which are then wound on cardboard bobbins of the appropriate size and sealed;
- from each coil, one copy is checked for the quality of the adhesive layer.
The last stage — activation, increases the adhesion of the film with other materials. Activation is carried out by an electric discharge, for which the tape is passed through the electrodes.
Thus, the equipment for producing adhesive tape includes:
- aggregates for processing the base, applying glue, drying it and activating the material;
- rewinders and cutters;
- device that removes rolls and loads cardboard inserts.
In some cases, prepared rolls of film obtained from other manufacturers are used to obtain a tape.
Features of the manufacture of decorative adhesive tape
Decorative ribbon — This is a polypropylene adhesive tape, which is printed with inscriptions or drawings. These can be company logos, original patterns or text.
Images on such a decorative tape are applied by printing. Application is top or interlayer.
In the top application, the image is printed on the finished surface and protected with a special coating. This is how you get adhesive tape for small orders. Such an image is not particularly resistant to abrasion.
With interlayer application, the image is printed on the substrate before its surface is covered with a layer of adhesive. It turns out a product that is resistant to external influences, where the pattern is protected by a film. Up to seven primary colors can be used for printing images.
Other types of adhesive tape have their own characteristics both in the production process, and in the equipment used, and in the materials used.
