Adhesive Tape Quality Standards

An important trend in the modern production of self-adhesive tapes is the unification of quality standards, carried out with the support of international organizations and, first of all, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO: International Organization for Standardization). So, to date, international standards for adhesive tapes are being actively developed by AFNOR (Association Française de Normalization), the French representative office of ISO. When testing, experts evaluate the stretchability of the tapes, their strength of tear resistance, adhesion strength and strength of static shear resistance.

Standardization of the quality of adhesive tapes allows us to provide consumers with a product with guaranteed high performance.

In addition to ISO, the quality standardization of adhesive type tapes is carried out by:

• ASTM International technical committees that standardized the quality criteria for a number of universal and special adhesive tapes: electrical tape (test D1000), vinyl-based electrical tape (test D2301), packaging tape (test D5486), etc. Some of the test methods were developed by ASTM in collaboration with PSTC, other trade associations and international organizations;
• North American Pressure Sensitive Tape Council (PSTC) and Tag & Label Manufacturers Institute (TLMI);
• European associations European Association for the Self Adhesive Tape Industry (AFERA) and Féderation INternationale des fabricants et transformateurs d' Adhésifs et Thermocollants (FINAT);
• Japanese Adhesive Tapes Manufacturers Association (JATMA).
